Professional background
Dr Tanveer Ahmed is a general adult psychiatrist who sees a broad range of patients. He works in Private Practice at Kellyville Private Hospital, which includes an adolescent unit and sees patients upwards of age thirteen.
He trained through the Royal Australian College of Psychiatrists and Sydney University where he completed his medical degree. He went to high school at Sydney Grammar School on full scholarship.
Dr Ahmed also works in a public community health facility in Bankstown, consulting with some of the most disadvantaged clients in our community. Dr Ahmed also visits clients in jail or other forensic settings to conduct assessments for court.
He is available for telehealth consultation for international clients.
Dr Ahmed is a published author of two books. The first, a migration memoir called “The Exotic Rissole”, published in 2011, and most recent, “Fragile Nation”, about the cultural rise of mental health in Western societies.
Dr Ahmed is an all round psychiatrist who treats patients between the ages of 13 and 70. He sees medications as an important but not the be all to end all of psychiatric recovery.
