Professional background

Dr Mihir Roy is a physician whose career has been shaped by one guiding principle: care that restores dignity, trust, and possibility. With more than 18 years of clinical experience across the NSW Health system, he has become a deeply respected specialist in addiction medicine, drawing on a rare blend of expertise in addiction medicine, emergency medicine, and general practice to support individuals through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

As a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (FAChAM), Dr Roy completed his specialist training across Western Sydney and the Nepean Blue Mountains, where he worked within multidisciplinary teams delivering withdrawal management, opioid agonist treatment, and long-term recovery support.

Dr Roy’s work extends far beyond the consulting room. His approach is grounded in non-judgmental, evidence-based care, delivered with the belief that every individual deserves the chance to rebuild their health and their future.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Roy plays an active role in strengthening the next generation of doctors. He is an accredited supervisor for registrars in addiction psychiatry and is regularly involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and nursing staff — a contribution that has made him a valued figure in the medical education community.
