Treatment for Anxiety
An anxiety disorder can develop in a number of ways. It is important for mental health professionals to develop targeted treatment for your anxiety.
Day programs
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
This program is based on the principle of accepting what is out of the participant’s personal control while committing to action to enrich their life and make it more meaningful. It aims for individuals to learn to handle painful thoughts and feelings in such a way to have less impact and influence (mindfulness skills), and to clarify what is truly important and meaningful (clarity values). It teaches participants to use this knowledge to guide, inspire and motivate themselves to set goals and take action that enriches their life.
When is it held?
Wednesday - 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm (ten weeks)
How to join
Patients interested in attending the day program will need to call the allied health department on 1300 122 144 (option 2) or contact groups at [email protected]
How much does it cost?
Patients are admitted as a day patient. Depending on their level of cover, they may be able to claim their attendance under their health fund. We ask that patients confirm any applicable out-of-pocket excess or gap costs directly with Kellyville Private Hospital. For patients without health fund coverage, a cost of $280 per session applies.
Manoeuvres (CBT)
This program is run by a multidisciplinary treatment team and is designed for people who want to identify, understand and change unhelpful patterns of thinking which may be negatively affecting their day to day lives. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), deals with the ‘here and now’ - how your patient’s current thoughts and behaviours are affecting them now. CBT recognises that events from the past help shape the way people think and behave. It does not dwell on past events but aims to find solutions on how to change your patient’s current thoughts and behaviours, so they can function better in the future.
